When the door on her grandfather clock began opening, Jenny decided it was time to....

...tell her Pa the truth. He was going to find out anyhow since he winds up the darn thing every single day. Every morning at six o clock sharp that stupid clock goes bam, bam, bam you get the idea. Well, yesterday morning I saw Leroy standing in front of the clock, cussing at the darn thing. Then I watched as he pulled open the front glass doors and start shaking them. I held my breath because I thought he was going to break the glass on the doors, but he just pulled on the hinges and screws fell off. I told him to stop, but he just looked at me and walked away. This morning I started to tell Pa what had happened.

"Jenny," Pa yelled, "your brother told me you broke my clock!"

...replace the latch. She knew that it needed fixing for a while now, but just didn't want to take the time to do it herself.

...call her grandmother. Before making the call, though, Jenny tip-toed to the clock, and slowly pushed the door shut. When she was satisfied that the door was securely shut once again, she picked up her phone.

"Hi, Gramma, it's Jen."

"Hello dear, how are you?"

"I'm fine, Gramma, but I do need to ask you something."

"What's that sweetheart?"

"When should I let Grandpa out of the clock? He keeps pushing the door open, and I keep shutting it."

"Oh, Jen, that means that he's hungry. Just throw a sandwich in there every once in a while."

"Oh, OK, Gramma, thanks."

"No problem, dear, my sister will only be here another two days, and then you can send Grandpa home."
