Sarah carefully, gently unwrapped her present, remembering what she got last year and how it... |
...almost killed her. Ripping into the bright paper, she'd eagerly flung open the box -- to have a giant jack-in-the-box jump straight at her, nearly causing heart trauma. This year, Sarah was trembing with what it might be. Agonizing, she clasped at the corner of the now-revealed box, tugging as gently as she could. POP! A giant jill-in-the-box jumped out, and Sarah tumbled back. 'So much for postponing the inevitable,' she thought. 'Next year I'll just get it over with.' by Jane, OR | ...ran screaming around the room, calling for the mothership, breaking windows, and messing on the carpet."I hope this gift is nicer," Sarah said to her husband. He smiled. "Don't worry, I don't think you'll have a bit of trouble from this one." There was a low snarl, then a flurry of fur, fangs, and claws as a creature launched itself from the box and latched onto Sarah's face. "Well, crap," Sarah's husband said, shaking his head. Her present had been an old crepe scarf belonging to her great grandmother, but her mom had thought it so pretty, that she had wrapped a box in it, intending to tell Sarah about it before she opened the present. Unfortunately, she wasn't around because Sarah's other present had been a cloth bag filled with bath creams and lotions, and Sarah had shaken up the package, trying to figure out what it was. The result of this was that the lids had come off all the bottles, and her mom had to go into the kitchen to try and clean up the mess. So in the end, both of Sarah's presents were ruined, and it really was her own fault. So this year, she had decided to be extra careful.
