"The trick-or-treaters will get a big suprise this year," Tanya said. "I just rigged the...""

...rigging."

On October 31, little kids clambered excitedly up the rope netting that led up to the crow's nest of the huge pirate ship in Tanya's front yard. A pirate waited at the top, guarding a treasure chest full of candy. But right as they got to the middle of the net, it suddenly fell, and they all tumbled on to a trampoline in the bowels of the ship.

"Hahaha! I've got you now!" a creepy voice intoned.

The frightened children frantically untangled themselves from the netting, and looked for a way out. One presented itself in the form of a porthole, just big enough for them to fit through. As they ran away from the ship, they didn't even stop to pick up the candy being fired at them from the ship's cannons.

"Yes," said Tanya contentedly. "That was quite a rig."

...the fake bats in the tree, to swoop down and shoot aerosol cheese guano on the little bastards!"

Ken looked at his wife in disbelief. It had been three years since the last time the kids toilet papered the house after receiving a generous amount of Kandy Korn. "Aren't we acting a little childish, Tanya?"

Tanya looked at Ken with hurt in her eyes, "I gave them a lot of Kandy Korn, Ken."

Resigned, Ken asked, "Sharp Cheddar?"

Tanya smiled and nodded.

...car with a couple of dummies wearing sunglasses, and they have ear-phones. One of them is pointing a digital movie camera. It's parked just by our drive." She laughed loudly as Don went outside to look.

He came back and said, "You're right. They look like F.B.I., or detectives. And everyone walking by crosses to the other side of the road. Well done."

"We should go on candid camera," Tanya said.

Don rubbed his hands together and asked, "What will we do with all the money we'll save, not having to buy treats this year?"

"Sorry, I've spent it already."

"What on?"

"The dummies and the props."
