As the starship touched down in the field, Farmer Jackson crawled away from the tree, determined to...

...discover the secret behind crop circles. Were they the key to solving Mankind's problems? Farmer Jackson needed to know, and he sat there trembling. Then he shook his head and felt dizzy. He struggled to breathe and realized he was being carried by light beam toward the starship. He landed on his feet inches from an alien the size of a child.

"Hello," the alien said.

"Who are you," the farmer said stuttering. "What do you want from me?"

"I only want your fuel."

"Fuel?"

"Yes, your crops are quite good. I wanted to thank you personally."

"Crops? Fuel?" A light bulb went off in the farmer's head. "You mean those circles are nothing more than skid marks after you peel out of the Earth gas station?"

The alien smiled and showed several rows of teeth, "You have a problem with that?"

The farmer swallowed and said, "Fill her up?"

...stay hidden from view. His heart beat rapidly as he dared to lift his head up from the ground to get a look. He could not distinguish very clearly the shape of the ship due to the bright lights on the outer edges of it. He decided that he should maybe move closer and crawl back to the tree. As he crawled back to the tree, he had the feeling that it was not one of his brighter ideas that he had ever had. Still, with anticipation of what might happen next he held his breath as a horrible noise filled the air. It could only be described as an animal caught in some type of trap. His first thought was to run and his next thought was, no way would he out run any animal in boots, overalls and at his age. He was lucky to have gotten down on the ground and crawled at all, and would be paying for that tomorrow, if he made it to tomorrow.

After, the noise stopped he let go of his grip on the tree trunk. The next thing he saw was a huge billow of smoke rising in the air and a light appear from what looked like a door being opened. Could this be really happening? Was this one of those Roswell incidents? Was he going to be the next crazy man on the news saying, "I was taken by Aliens"! He waited as the door finished opening and then the light went off.

This is it. I'm dead, they're coming, Lord help me, please give me the strength to pick up my pants and run. He took off and ran straight into the cornfield and could feel the breath of what was behind him on his neck. For every step he took, he could hear five steps more. With everything in him he ran and ran until he realized he did not know where he was running. He finally stopped along a county road that must have ended somewhere near his neighbors property. He leaned over and grabbed his knees to catch his breath and looked up and saw that his neighbor's house was a half a mile down the road and that their front porch light was on. He started for the house in hopes that someone would answer the door.

Just as he got to the house his neighbor Ethel stepped up on the front porch, "Farmer Jackson what are you doing out tonight? Haven't you heard that the Air Force Base has asked that everyone stay inside do to tests being conducted on a new airplane they have in the vicinity? They don't want anyone to think they are being taken hostage by aliens, you know with all that Roswell mess in the past?" Farmer Jackson just stared at Ethel. Ethel asked him again what he was doing.

Poor Farmer Jackson could only think of one thing to say and that was. "Well, you know at my age it becomes harder and harder to stretch these dang overalls out so I decided to give them a run for my money." Now, Ethel was the one to just stare. After a friendly exchange Farmer Jackson decided it was better to just take a walk back home on the road and not go for anymore late night runs through his fields. He hoped that by tomorrow Ethel wasn't the one talking about a crazy old man.

...report this strange event to the authorities.

He was taken before the President and a council of war was convened.

"Someone has to approach these travelers from the sky and find out their intentions?" said the President. "Who can we send?" said the General, "We need a volunteer." No one volunteered and then someone remembered that the King's new Court Jester had also come from the sky. He was summoned and offered the job of Ambassador to the Sky people. He accepted and because an Ambassador could not be a commoner the King knighted him. Sir Perceval approached the strange two headed beings that were camped outside their starship. "Hello Earth man." Their leader said through a Speech Translator devise. "Knock knock," said the Jester/Ambassador. "We are doomed," said the President who was watching from a safe distance.

...get a better look. Were these those dangerous merchants jessie talked about, or were they the kind ones that offered good deals on soil? "What the heck," he sighed, wandering out from the tree and boldly approaching the star ship.

The ship was saucer shaped and beaming with blue and yellow lights. The lights danced around the night sky, and the sloping green hills. As the ship hovered down great dust clouds swarmed upsetting the cows. "I need some cowfeed and hay!" Farmer Jackson shouted at the merchant craft. And then he felt the cool metal of a laser gun on the back of his head...the mean merchants.
