Sharon knew she'd made a big mistake when she saw...

...her parents under the covers. Why hadn't she knocked? She usually knocked, but her parents' car wasn't outside! Her dad was supposed to be at work! Maybe her brother Robbie took the car.
Her feet wouldn't move, and she was beginning experience a burning sensation in the back of her eyes. She wanted so badly to turn away; but it was as if she were petrified.
Only when a moan escaped from the fork of her mother's legs, and the midst of her father's burly figure, did she finally gather enough strength to dash out of the room.
Sharon dove on her bed, and buried her head under the pillow.

...Kevin through the window of the café where they would have Sunday brunch. How was she going to tell him she was moving forward in her life? Kevin noticed her standing outside the café . Always the gentleman, Kevin rushed over to open the door for her.
"You look fantastic, Sharon." Kevin smiled.
"Been here long?" Sharon asked.
"Seems like forever." Kevin took his seat across from her.
"We need to talk somewhere more private," Sharon reasoned as the patrons were beginning to stare.
"Okay," Kevin agreed.
Sharon proceeded out the door with Kevin in tow. Once they were alone, Sharon looked at Kevin, "I love you, Kevin. I always will, but the car accident was a year today.
"I know," Kevin reasoned.
"You realize that I can't continue to love a dead man. You need to move into the light. Your time here is finished, Kevin." Sharon felt a tear tinkle down her cheek.

...the tourist boat listing badly, the port side beginning to slip under the green waters of the river. The fifty tourists, all in life-jackets, bobbed in the water, stunned that their lazy afternoon tour had ended so abruptly.
"Didn't you see the boat coming?" her husband asked.
"No," Sharon said nervously, under her breath. "This is great. The first time in twenty years that I try to skip rocks across the river, and look what happens."
